No cloud account. No separate app install.
Just enable it in Settings, scan a QR code with your phone and the entire player becomes accessible from any browser on your local network.
The important part here is that this is not a “second player”. The desktop app remains the actual playback engine. Your DSP chain, visualizers, crossfades, AirPlay or DLNA streaming and local library all stay exactly where they belong: on the machine connected to your audio setup.
The phone or tablet simply becomes the control surface. A lot of music apps split the experience into disconnected zones: server here, remote there, playback elsewhere. I wanted Zenteek to feel more like sitting in front of a real Hi-Fi system. One central machine doing the heavy lifting, while control can happen from anywhere in the room. Some people have mounted an iPad right to their stack exactly for this use case: Headless operation.
The remote interface gives you access to playback controls, queue management, browsing and library navigation without touching the desktop. It works surprisingly well on tablets next to a couch setup or on a phone while cooking, cleaning or sitting on the balcony.
And because it runs entirely in the browser, it works across platforms automatically and is super responsive, near realtime.
One of my favorite setups lately has been this: Mac Mini in the office. External SSD attached. Zenteek output routing enabled and muted locally. Zenteek streaming to AirPlay speakers in the kitchen and living room and the phone acting as the remote.
That puts Zenteek in a class of its own. It is not just a desktop player, it can be a audio distribution hub and the way i designed the output routing you can interface Sonos, HEOS, WiiM as well as AirPlay and sync them, cross topology, while Zenteek orchestrates the playback/crossfades, while able to pull data from your local drives - or remote media servers like Plex, Jellyfin, Navidrome.
Of course you don't have to do all of that a once, but you can if you wanted to and that is what makes Zenteek special.
